Tickets are valid only for the selected date and one-hour time slot and cannot be transferred to another date, time, or person.

No refund will be given if you do not attend, arrive late and cannot be accommodated, choose not to descend, are refused descent, or are not permitted to descend for safety reasons.

To descend, children must be at least 7 years old, be able to follow instructions, and be able to sit still for at least 90 seconds, as they will descend/ascend in the chair solo.

You must be suitably clothed to descend. The CPC may refuse descent for unsuitable clothing, health grounds, behaviour, failure to follow instructions, suspected alcohol or drug use, or any other safety reason.

Suitable clothing includes:

  • Warm thermal base layers or similar
  • Insulated warm jacket
  • Waterproof trousers and coat
  • Sturdy suitable footwear
  • Hat and gloves are recommended

The wearing of the helmets provided is mandatory, and they must be worn once you commence your approach to the gantry steps and must not be removed until back on the surface.

Mobile phones, cameras, Go Pros or any other loose items must be attached by a lanyard. This will be checked by the Gantry Person before any descent will be allowed to commence.

Bags are to be left on the surface unless required for good reason, such as medical grounds. this must be agreed with the CPC Day Leader on arrival.

All items are left at the owners’ risk, and the CPC accepts no liability for loss or damage.

Adverse Weather or Operational Delays

Gaping Gill reacts quickly to heavy or persistent rain, so winching may be delayed, restricted, or suspended for safety reasons.

If delays are likely before your visit, we may contact you in advance and, where possible, offer alternative options.

If weather, mechanical issues, or events outside the CPC’s control cause a delay or cancellation on the day, we will try to offer an alternative date or time. If no suitable alternative or capacity is available, a refund will be given.
